ANDRE KING COMEDIAN

Andre King stand up comedian

"This is the place where we would usually pretend that someone else has written this blurb about me. But, I wrote this."

I'm recounting performances I've been engaged in, and on occasion utter the words others have whispered in my ears after a show. Such as "AndreKing is the super heavyweight champ of New Zealand's stand-up comedy scene.  One of the country's finest exports, he has wowed audiences around the world with headline performances in over sixty countries throughout Europe, Asia and the South Pacific."

That particular quote was offered to me by a journalist in Hong Kong, however, upon having the comment translated by a third party, this was only the 'import' of the quote. The direct translation was much more visceral!

"Superstar fat white devil from New Zealand is a man who is jolly! Laugh at him in many countries around the world!" The direct translation always seemed more appropriate and funnier to me than the translation they printed!

While it's true that I have had multiple appearances in festivals around the globe, and I have shared the stage with such comedy legends as Jimmy Carr, Bill Bailey, Lee Evans, Jasper Carrot, Greg Proops, Kevin Nealon & TJ Miller, talking about it goes against the Kiwi attitude of not making a big deal out of things.

Suffice to say that I'm quite funny and the best way to understand that is to see me in person. Check out my event guide or request me at your local comedy club. I tell true stories about my experiences travelling and performing and I punctuate those tales with accents and mimicry, impersonations and impressions. I work hard fast and clean.

I know that some people see the word 'clean' and think... well how funny can it be?' Believe me, when I tell you, I perform comedy for adult audiences. It just so happens that people under the age of 18 can watch and enjoy it too. If you're looking for examples of clean comedians that you've probably already laughed yourself silly over, you don't need to look very far. I've been compared to Jackie Gleason, The Two Ronnies and Morecambe and Wise.

This style of clean and clever, quick-fire, true stories makes me a popular choice for cruise lines and as a corporate entertainer and keynote speaker. Some of the personal highlights of my career are that I've been fortunate enough (and funny enough) to have been included in two US TV shows including 'Making of the Mob - Chicago' for History Channel and 'Tatau' a BBC-America co-production alongside Temuera Morrison.(Book of Bobba Fett).

I performed at Windsor Castle during HRH Queen Elizabeth's 60th Jubilee for the Household Cavalry and in 2016 was the first Western comedian to play Myanmar since Bob Hope during WW2!

One day, I hope to see you at one of my shows, it would be great to meet you! If we do meet, I hope you enjoy my show... and if you don't, I'm sorry to say I don't do refunds... but we can still be friends!
